The impact of Brexit is now being felt in UK universities with a fall of 40% in the numbers of EU students applying to the UK according to data from the ONS. Added to this, Covid-19 has fundamentally altered the way universities communicate with students as well as students’ expectations of universities. - In 2020 there were over 729,000 applications for university made in the UK, of which 570,000 were accepted
- According to Universities UK, in the year ending September 2020 there were 176,101 Sponsored study (Tier 4) visas granted. This is a 36% decrease from 2019 levels
- In 2020, a record 23.3% of UK 18-year-olds from low participation neighbourhoods were accepted to study a full-time undergraduate degree through UCAS, compared to 14.0% in 2011
- UCAS Media reported that 82% of students use Instagram, compared to 57% of students who use Facebook
